Treasury and Compliance Accountant

Continuing Full Time appointment

HEW 8/9, Salary $ 89,198 to $109,577

Plus, 17% superannuation plus 6 weeks annual leave

Leverage your extensive experience in Accounting to provide strong management of the University’s treasury function and investment portfolio.

 

University Finance deliver Charles Darwin University's financial and procurement services, in support of teaching, learning, research and community engagement activities across all University business areas.

University Financial is responsible for a wide range of functions including: promoting sound financial management; ensuring all statutory and regulatory returns are compiled accurately and efficiently, delivering high quality management reporting, planning and budgeting frameworks; excellent financial analysis and managing a efficient and effective treasury function.


As the Treasury and Compliance Accountant you are responsible for the management of cash flow forecast and planning, administration of transactional banking contract and administration of the university’s large investment portfolio.  You are also responsible for all aspects of tax compliance reporting functions including GST, FBT as well as managing University insurance portfolio.


The is a senior finance role and you will need to demonstrate strong strategic thinking and an ability to negotiate and resolve conflict. Your duties will include maintaining high quality cash flow planning and forecast spreadsheets with the ability to monitor upcoming cashflow requirements and implications on short term investments; the preparation and submission of Business Activity Statements, Fringe Benefits Tax returns and other ATO requirements for CDU and related entities. You will also be required to monitor and reconcile where appropriate revenue from NT Government and Commonwealth Government in relation to core activities.


To be successful you require a postgraduate qualification in Accounting or an equivalent field with extensive experience in treasury management and compliance activities in Australian tax environment. Demonstrative management of significant financial investments and an up to date understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and Australian Taxation are essential.
